Reading Japanese Drawings: A Field Handbook
A three-page handbook for engineers, machinists and inspectors in Vietnam who receive drawings from Japanese customers. Unlike a symbol lookup table, it follows the reading process: start with the title block (図番 drawing number, 改訂 revision, 承認 approval, 尺度 scale, 材質 material) to make sure you hold the right drawing, read the drawing-wide notes (注記), then move on to dimensions, geometric tolerances and appearance requirements. It includes eight common drawing callouts with interpretations for self-practice, an appearance-judgement vocabulary built around boundary samples (限度見本), fourteen Japanese phrases for asking back and four for reporting results, plus a nine-point checklist before machining or inspection.
